Ghana’s Black Stars will return to action on Thursday, September 4, when they take on Chad in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

With six rounds of games already gone in the qualification campaign, the Black Stars are on the chase for yet another win.

The matchday seven fixture is a reverse game of their earlier encounter against Chad, where Otto Addo’s side picked up an emphatic 5-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.

With a three-point lead at the top Group I, Ghana is hoping to get the better of Thursday’s opposition in order to maintain their position.

Ghana’s campaign so far includes five wins and one defeat, leaving them with 15 points out of a possible 18.

Against Chad, the Black Stars are aware they face a side that is only playing for pride in the remainder of the games as they are yet to pick up any points.

As far as the qualifiers is concerned, Les Sao are already eliminated after a dismal run of results.

This will be the second-ever meeting between the two teams with the first ending a big win for the Black Stars.

Ghana’s only defeat in the campaign came on match day two against Comoros but have since been on a four-game winning streak.

TEAM NEWS

Raoul Savoy will look to spoil the party for Ghana after contributing to their inability qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Savoy will be hoping the experience heads in Ebenezer Ngardial and Yves Allarabaye can limit the attacking options of the Black Stars with the midfield being entrusted to Franky Tchaouna and Eric Mbangossoum.

For Ghana, Otto Addo’s recent call-up included just one new face — Derrick Arthur Kohn, who comes in at left-back.

The defender is only making his first appearance into the setup after agreeing to switch his nationality to Ghana having been on the books of Germany in the past.

Addo also has Tariq Lamptey, Abdul Salis Samed, Elisha Owusu, Ibrahim Osman and Kamaldeen Sulemana back in his team after missing in the last few games.

However, Alexander Djiku and Joseph Paintsil, who were both called-up, were unable to join the squad in time for the clash against Chad.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID

The Black Stars had their final training session on Wednesday following their arrival in Chad on Tuesday night.

The team inspected the pitch to be used for the fixture before their final session.

The head coach is, however, disappointed with the nature of the park ahead of the game.

“I am surprised that CAF allowed this (astro turf) pitch for an international match. The pitch is really not good. It is very hard. For the players, it is like playing on concrete,” he said.

Despite his concern, he will be hoping that his side can come up with a strong performance seal all three points at the 30,000-seat stadium located in Mandjafa.

The game is scheduled to kickoff at 13:00 GMT.
