No government can stop galamsey— Abu Jinapor says
Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has acknowledged that illegal mining (galamsey) remains a persistent challenge despite efforts to curb it.
According to him, gold’s high value fuels the problem, making it difficult to eliminate completely.
“We can’t get rid of it entirely, but we must contain it,” he stated, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement while supporting sustainable small-scale mining.
He urged Ghanaians to rally behind the new minister to continue the fight against galamsey.
