Calls for Transparency: Former Principal Auditor Urges Review of Asset Declaration Process

Mr. Phillip Kofi Ntiamoah, former Principal Auditor and CEO of Tano River Lodge in Techiman, has made a compelling appeal to the President to re-examine the asset declaration process for politicians and government officials.
Ntiamoah emphasized the need for transparency, suggesting that declarations should be made public before and after an official’s tenure.
According to Ntiamoah in an interview with news men, the current system allows individuals to falsely declare assets they don’t possess, with the intention of acquiring them in the future.
Ntiamoah’s calls for transparency and accountability resonate with concerns raised by transparency advocates globally.
To combat this, he advocates for a review of the Audit Act, ensuring that asset declarations are authentic and accessible to the public. TAPE
Furthermore, Ntiamoah called on the President to enlist the support of security services in the Operation Recovery All Loot (ORAL) team.
This collaborative effort, he believes, would significantly enhance the team’s ability to recover losses incurred through corrupt activities. TAPE
In addition to these proposals, Ntiamoah urged the President to consider recognizing and rewarding civil servants who have served the country with integrity and dedication, particularly those who are retiring.
He cited some persons in Techiman who served the nation well and need some recognition. TAPE
