Black Queens second half collapse sees them draw with Côte d’Ivoire

Ghana blew away a two-goal lead in the second half as they drew against Côte d’Ivoire in the first of two friendly games.

Goals from Sherifatu Sumaila, Chantelle Hlorgah and an own goal were on course to give Kim Lars Bjorkegren a second win until a second half collapse.

The Black Queens opened the scoring in the game after 18 minutes with a great strike from Sherifatu.

The lead became two in the 41st minute when England-based Chantelle scored her first goal for the senior national team.

Three minutes later, Côte d’Ivoire pulled a goal before the two teams went into the break at 2-1.

After the break, Bjorkegren’s side looked the most threatening and extended their lead through an own goal in the 51st minute.

Côte d’Ivoire reduced the deficit in the 70th minute as they looked to stage a comeback.

Their dreams became possible 10 minutes later as they drew level.

Despite the end to end actions, there were no more goals in the game as it ended 3-3.

The two teams meet again next week before the Black Queens return to Ghana.
