The Speaker Has No Constitutional Grounds To Suspend Members Of Parliament– Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu.
In recent comment, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has vehemently opposed the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s suspension decision of the four MPs over their conduct which caused chaos during vetting session last Thursday, January, 30Th . Although he agrees with the Speaker to refer the matter to the Privileges Committee of Parliament in accordance with the Order 342 of the Parliamentary Standing Orders but disagrees with the Speaker’s authority of imposing such sanctions, describing it as unconstitutional.
