Parliament’s Appointments Committee to vet final Deputy Minister nominees today

Parliament’s Appointments Committee is scheduled to vet the final batch of deputy ministerial nominees today, Friday, July 25.

President John Dramani Mahama selected the nominees in line with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of the 1992 Constitution.

The four nominees, all sitting Members of Parliament, are set to appear before the Committee for assessment and consideration.

They include Dorcas Affo-Toffey, MP for Jomoro, who has been nominated for the position of Deputy Minister for Transport, and James Gyakye Quayson, MP for Assin North, who is nominated for Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Also up for vetting are Mohammed Adam Sukparu, MP for Sissala West, nominated for Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, and Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah, MP for Essikado-Ketan, nominated for Deputy Minister of Health.

The nominations were referred to the Appointments Committee by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on 17 July.

This session marks the final round of deputy ministerial vettings under the current administration.

Once approved, the nominees will support their respective sector ministers in delivering government policies and enhancing public service efficiency.
