Dr. Mutasim Jaafar, the president of the Sudan Football Association, has denied rumors that Kwasi Appiah, the head coach of the national team, has been unpaid for months.

Despite his outstanding results with the team, there have been recent rumors that the former Ghana coach has not collected his salary.

Jaafar, however, maintains that these assertions are untrue.

According to a statement from Jaafar, “these claims [that we owe him] are not true.”

Kwasi will show up [in camp] on the scheduled days since he is dedicated to his contract with the Sudanese Football Association.

Due to difficulties with the banking transfer to Ghana, he has not yet gotten his money, but we are working to resolve the matter in the next few hours. Kwasi must accompany us in order to guide the national squad.

Due in part to his position on Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee, Appiah has been in Ghana for a number of weeks.

His return to Sudan is essential, particularly as the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Sudan and Senegal draw near.

Under Appiah’s direction, the Sudanese national team has flourished and is presently leading Group B with 10 points from four games. He led them to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco this year, and they are now hoping to qualify for the World Cup the following year.

The loss of fan Francis Frimpong Pooley, who unfortunately died as a result of violence committed by hooligans, is also being mourned by the Sudanese football community. On March 6, he was buried.
